PPG announced it will host 40 students from Cherokee Bluff High School at its Oakwood, Georgia, facility on Wednesday, Oct. 10.

The event is being held to mark National Manufacturing Day, organized by the National Association of Manufacturers, which aims to address labor opportunities, connect with future generations of manufacturers and ensure success of the manufacturing industry.

“It is always great to have students tour our facility so they can learn more about local opportunities available to them,” said Alex George, PPG plant manager, Oakwood. “I know the event will spark interest in our next generation of workers.”

Students will be given a tour of the facility and learn about the plant’s operations and various duties of employees. After touring the facility, students will have the opportunity to learn more about a work-based learning program to further pursue a manufacturing career.

PPG’s Oakwood facility employs approximately 100 people and manufactures well-known architectural paint brands including GLIDDEN paint and PPG PAINTS products.
