AARP Georgia Kicks Off November with Events Recognizing Veterans

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Wednesday, November 7th, 2018

AARP Georgia recognizes and values the contributions made by those who have served our country. In salute to their selfless nature, several free events are being held for veterans and their families starting on Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Clearly Invisible is a stage production that honors the sacrifice made by those in the military and provides insight into the challenges that may arise when veterans re-enter civilian life. This free performance will be at Riverdale Town Centre on Wednesday,
Nov. 7, with an encore performance on Thursday, Nov. 8. To register, please use this link: https://bit.ly/2QdnDUE.

In addition, officials from the Atlanta Veterans Administration will provide a Telehealth Showcase beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8 at Riverdale Town Centre. Specifically geared toward veterans, but open to those interested in telehealth, VA representatives will provide an overview of the technology that allows individuals to connect with their health care professionals via a smartphone or tablet.

At 11 a.m., Cabot Creamery will provide a complimentary lunch, and at 1:30 p.m., there will be an encore presentation of Clearly Invisible. To register for the Telehealth Showcase, Lunch and Clearly Invisible, please use this link: https://bit.ly/2qoNvSq. For additional information, contact Jil Hinds at 404-870-3781.

Also for our veterans, beginning Nov. 1, the Create the Good Honoring Heroes Contest kicks off. The contest is a great opportunity to honor a veteran, family member of a veteran, or a volunteer who is committed to veterans’ causes by sharing his or her inspiring story. The nominee could win an 8-day cruise or up to $1,000 in cash. For more information, please visit http://createthegood.org/campaign/honoringheroes.
