Four Transportation Projects Awarded in August to the Northeast Region

Four construction projects were awarded to the Northeast Region in August that totaled $9.7 million.

The resurfacing and shoulder rehabilitation on State Route 72 in Elbert County represented the largest project awarded in August.

This resurfacing is a $4.7 million investment awarded to C&H Paving, Inc. Spanning 7.8 miles of contractors will resurface State Route 72 just east of Nicksville Road and extend west of State Route 17. The estimated completion date for the project is July 2020.

The second largest project awarded in the Northeast region is located in Walton County and will upgrade traffic signals at 13 different intersections.
A $3 million investment and was awarded to CMES, Inc. The project has an estimated completion date of February, 2021.

The third largest project awarded will rehabilitate bridges at various locations along I-85 in Banks and Franklin Counties.

The project represents a $1.6 million investment and was awarded to Louis-Company, LLC. The project will maintain bridge decks and replace joints across 25 bridges along the I-85 corridor. The project has an estimated completion date of August 2021.

The final project awarded was the rehabilitation of the State Route 15 (Sycamore Street) bridge over Curry Creek in Jackson County.

The project represents a $335,194 investment and was awarded to E & D Contracting Services, Inc. The contractor will repair the sidewalk and light posts as well as maintain the bridge’s substructure. The project has an estimated completion date of May 2020.

Additional details regarding lane closures will be communicated as construction activities begin.
