Jason Downey Unanimously Elected Vice-Chairman Of Georgia State Board Of Education

Macon resident Jason E. Downey was unanimously elected Vice-Chairman of the Georgia State Board of Education on December 12, 2019 at the last State Board of Education meeting of 2019. Downey was appointed to the State Board of Education in April 2019 by Governor Brian Kemp. He previously served on the Macon-Bibb County Board of Education from 2013-2017.

I am humbled to be elected Vice-Chairman, and I appreciate the vote of confidence.”

Downey will assume his duties as Vice-Chairman in January 2020, along with Chair-Elect Scott Sweeney from Cobb County. Downey represents the 8th Congressional District on the State Board of Education and is one of three appointees by Governor Kemp currently serving on the 14-member Board.
