Staff Report From Gainesville CEO

Tuesday, May 5th, 2020

The Presidential Preference Primary election has been postponed to June 9 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Hall County voters who wish to vote absentee can fill out an absentee ballot application HERE. Absentee ballots must be returned by 7 p.m. on election day. Military serving overseas must postmark their ballots by election day.  Early voting begins May 18 at a new location – Gainesville Elementary School, located at 1145 McEver Road in Gainesville. The school will allow for easier social distancing practices for the safety of citizens and poll workers. For in-person voting, voters can expect enforcement of social distancing, along with various barriers, hand sanitizer stations and strict cleaning procedures to limit the spread of germs.

VOTE ‘YES’ for E-SPLOST

Since 1997, the Education SPLOST (E-SPLOST) one-penny local sales tax has funded new schools, technology and safer campuses in Gainesville-Hall County. In the June 9th referendum, the E-SPLOST vote will be paired with a general obligation bond designed to jump-start construction projects.

Why E-SPLOST?

• Best alternative to higher property taxes

• Everyone pays – non-residents, visitors, homeowners, renters

• For the future of our children
