The fans are coming back — well, at least some.

Augusta National Golf Club chairman Fred Ridley announced on Tuesday that the course intends to host a limited number of patrons during the Master’s Tournament in April. The world-famous golf tournament was held in November without fansand a small group of essential staff members.

“As with the November Masters, we will implement practices and policies that will protect the health and safety of everyone in attendance,” Ridley said in a statement. “Nothing is, or will be, more important than the well-being of all involved. While we are disappointed that we will be unable to accommodate a full complement of patrons this year, we will continue our efforts to ensure that all who purchased tickets from Augusta National will have access in 2022, provided conditions improve.”

Ridley also added that the Augusta National Women’s Amateur and the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals are still on as scheduled, with also limited capacity. Augusta National officials declined to comment on who will get to come or the ticketing process but said it continues to have ongoing discussions with ticket holders and are issuing refunds for those who can’t attend.

PGA Tour star Dustin Johnson won last year’s Master Tournament. It was one of the first sporting events in Georgia to be postponed or cancelled. The 84th edition looked differently than ever before, with new wrinkles, including College GameDay airing from the course.
