LSCU Celebrates International Credit Union Day

Friday, October 22nd, 2021

The League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates (LSCU) is joining forces with credit unions across the globe in celebration of International Credit Union Day, October 21st, 2021. International Credit Union Day honors the credit union movement’s history, promotes the achievements of credit unions, and highlights credit unions and member experiences.

“International Credit Union Day is an important day for all of us at LSCU because it gives us an opportunity to reflect on what we strive to achieve on a daily basis – to create an environment that enables credit unions and their members to grow and succeed,” said LSCU CEO, Patrick La Pine. “We are honored to be a part of the credit union movement and be a trusted advocate for credit unions in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia.”

International Credit Union Day is celebrated annually on the third Thursday of October. This day gives credit unions the chance to raise awareness through outreach and volunteering in the community, contests, and charitable fundraisers.

“Despite the difficulties we have faced in the last year and a half, credit unions have remained steadfast in their support of local communities and assisted in countless recovery efforts. Whether it was preparing children for in-person class through collecting school supplies, giving money back to members so it can be re-invested in small businesses recovering from the pandemic, or raising funds to assist families getting back on their feet after the tragic Surfside condo collapse, credit unions were there to help their members and the local communities they serve every step of the way. That is the credit union difference,” continued La Pine.

International Credit Union Day logos and poster are available at the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) International Credit Union Day page. Credit unions and members everywhere are encouraged to share photos, events, experiences, and other ideas on social media using #ICUDay.
