Mincey Marble is moving all operations to Gainesville Business Park, an industrial park off Calvary Church Road, according to a company announcement made at the January board meeting of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce.

A local manufacturer of cast marble products, Mincey has been based on Browns Bridge Road in West Hall for its entire 40-year history and had recently won rezoning approval to build a new facility across the highway.

“I want to thank Hall County for helping us make this happen,” said Donna Mincey, company president and CEO. “From the commissioners to planning department staff and the Greater Hall Chamber, they all worked tirelessly toward a solution that balances the best interests of our company with the Gainesville-Hall community. They are to be commended.”

With an annual payroll of over $10 million, Mincey Marble provides nearly 300 jobs, all of which will remain in Hall County. The company also contributes over $100,000 a year in local taxes.

Mincey said her company’s recent rezoning was a “painful but necessary process” to arrive at its decision to relocate.

“Had we not gone through such a lengthy rezoning process, we would have come to our eventual decision much sooner,” she said. “In the end though, I am happy for our opponents and am grateful to those who supported our rezoning efforts. This move should satisfy everyone.”

Cost was a primary factor in the relocation decision, Mincey said. Many of her company’s financial projections could not be determined until after the rezoning cleared the way for due diligence. The cost estimates for road improvements, for example, came in substantially higher than expected, Mincey said.
Another key factor was the securing of major new business contracts in late 2016 that dramatically altered Mincey sales forecasts for the new year and beyond.

Mincey’s move to a 79-acre site in Gainesville Business Park provides much greater flexibility for future expansion. The company plans to build a 350,000 to 400,000 square-foot facility to house all operations, which currently are split between two locations along Brown’s Bridge Road.

Tim Evans, Greater Hall Chamber vice president of economic development, pointed out Mincey’s new location provides an opportunity to consolidate operations into a more efficient state-of-the-art facility and expand as needed.

“From a business growth standpoint, this flexibility is a good thing for jobs and investment in Gainesville-Hall County,” Evans said. “It’s a win-win for Mincey and will have a positive economic development effect on jobs and throughout the business community.”

Construction and relocation are expected to be completed by early 2018.

Mincey Marble will share its new industrial park location on New Harvest Road with ZF Wind Power and fastener distributor Würth House of Threads.

Mincey Marble manufactures cast marble bath products for commercial industries – including hospitality, multi-family, military, and healthcare. Its market spans throughout North America.
