KIA Motors Manufacturing Georgia recently donated $45,000 to The Technical College System of Georgia Foundation. A portion of the funds will directly impact student retention and graduation rates in support of The Gretchen K. Corbin Last Mile Fund. The Fund provides needs-based assistance to students at all 22 TCSG colleges. In spring 2017, the TCSG Foundation awarded more than $22,000 in student aid as a result of the Fund.

“We are fortunate to have the support of partners like KIA Motors Manufacturing Georgia. I consider KMMG a part of the TCSG family because they have, time and time again, proven their dedication and commitment to this System and its students,” said TCSG Commissioner Matt Arthur. “This transformative gift to the TCSG Foundation will help us to better respond to Governor Deal’s call-to-action to provide talented individuals for Georgia’s workforce.”

Countess, Chief Administrative Officer for KMMG. “We have seen first-hand the impact that technical education has on the lives of students; and the benefits that these advanced skills bring to industries like ours is priceless.”

In addition to contributing to the Last Mile Fund, a portion of the donation supports the Georgia Occupational Award for Leadership program. GOAL celebrated its 47th year last week and named Crystal Wright, an interdisciplinary studies student at Georgia Piedmont Technical College, as the technical education student of the year.
