Secretary of State Corporations Division Sets Another Record for Annual Registrations
Tuesday, June 26th, 2018
Secretary of State Brian Kemp announced a new record of 657,620 annual registration for businesses filed year-to-date in 2018. This number surpasses 2017 and 2016’s records of 643,646 and 633,298, respectively.
“For three years in a row, Georgia has shattered the record for total business registrations filed since the beginning of the year,” stated Secretary Kemp. “The success of our streamlined eCorp platform coupled with the Peach State’s business-friendly climate make it easier than ever before to file, renew, or update business records at the state level. This new record is a testament to Georgia’s appeal as a great place to live, work, and grow your company.”
During the annual registration period each year from January 1 to April 1, officers and registered agents can visit the website without having to log into the system and select one of two options: “One Click Annual Registration” if there are no changes to be made to their business filings or “Express Annual Registration” to update contact information or make other changes. In January, Kemp announced a record-setting month for the agency with more annual registrations filed in one month’s time than ever before, and Georgia also broke the all-time record for total business registrations filed during annual registration season for the third year in a row.
The annual registration period will re-open January 1, 2019 and run through 11:59 p.m. on April 1, 2019. During that window, for-profit corporations, non-profit corporations, professional corporations, limited liability companies, and limited partnerships are required to file their annual registrations with the Corporations Division. In 2018, over 623,313 businesses filed their annual registrations in Georgia during annual registration season.
