Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp announced that the Secretary of State’s Corporations Division has shattered the all-time record of total business registrations filed in one calendar year with more than 700,000 filings completed since January 1, 2018. This number includes renewals from annual registration season, which runs from January 1 to April 1 of each year, and brand new business filings in the Peach State.

“Every single day, we are focused on slashing bureaucratic red tape and getting government out of the way of job creators,” explained Secretary Kemp. “This new record is a testament to this long-standing commitment, and we are excited to celebrate such a remarkable milestone.”

Annual registration will re-open January 1, 2019 and run through 11:59 p.m. on April 1, 2019. For-profit corporations, non-profit corporations, professional corporations, limited liability companies, and limited partnerships must file annual registrations with the Corporations Division during this time. For the rest of the year, businesses file amended annual registrations to update existing records.  

In January, Kemp announced a record-setting month for the agency with more annual registrations filed in one month’s time than ever before. In 2018, over 623,313 businesses filed their annual registrations in Georgia during annual registration season, breaking the all-time record for total business registrations filed during annual registration season for the third year in a row.
