Environmental Education Alliance of Georgia’s 2019 Annual Conference March 8th-10th in Albany
Friday, February 15th, 2019
The Environmental Education Alliance of Georgia’s 2019 Annual Conference will take place on March 8-10th and will be located in Albany, Georgia. Conference will be hosted by the Flint RiverQuarium Environmental Education Center and Merry Acres Inn and Event Center, with lodging options at the latter. EEA is a statewide organization and after many years, Conference is returning to a South Georgia location in order to show regional support after a year of environmental disasters, as well as to be more accessible to our members and friends living below the Fall Line.
Conference theme is “Garden to Table”, which supports our South Georgia location where farming and local food movements have a long history across social groups, cultures and time periods. This year’s theme shows a different angle of Environmental Education: to bridge the gap between people and their food sources by educating the public about their local ecosystem and the soil their food comes from. Our Keynote speaker, Rashid Nuri, Founder of Truly Living Well, has “dedicated his career to agricultural development and food education.” -K. Rashid Nuri. Mr. Nuri has experience working with small scale agriculture, land management, global agribusiness, urban agriculture, and community health. He has also served as the Deputy Administrator for the USDA and Senior Advisor in the Department of Commerce during the Clinton Administration.
We hope this Conference will be intriguing to all with special interest in those with backgrounds in farming, horticulture, botany, formal and non-formal education, local movements, nutrition, community advocating and more! EEA strives to create a culture of environmental stewardship and opportunities in order to connect educators of all kinds to one another and to the natural world.
Registration for Conference will be open until February 25th, at https://www.eealliance.org and is open to EEA members as well as the general public. Register today!
