State Representative Tommy Benton (R-Jefferson) announced that Jackson County was awarded $150,000 in special purpose grants from the OneGeorgia Authority to build an agricultural center in Jackson County.

“I am thankful for the OneGeorgia Authority’s recent consideration for this funding, as agriculture remains the largest sector of Jackson County’s economy,” said Rep. Benton. “This new facility will support students who are involved in the future of the local agricultural economy, and it will serve as an asset to producing well-rounded and productive students and citizens in Jackson County.”

The Jackson County Board of Commissioners is currently constructing the new agricultural center to support local students who are involved in educational programs, such as Future Farmers of America and 4-H. The new agricultural center will be available for educational purposes and for those who are currently involved in Jackson County’s agriculture community. The current budget for the facility is $4 million and will be located on property previously owned by the county. The center’s total square footage will be approximately 43,000 square feet and will include a multipurpose area, show area, conference room, kitchen and standard amenities.
