The Alzheimer’s Association is inviting residents from Gainesville and surrounding counties to join the fight to end Alzheimer’s by participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The Walk will take place on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the Downtown Gainesville Square in Gainesville.
On Walk day, participants will honor those affected by Alzheimer's disease with Promise Flowers during the poignant Promise Garden Ceremony – a moving display of hope to represent the personal reasons participants join together to fight Alzheimer’s.
“Two-thirds of those living with Alzheimer’s are women, and my Grandma Audrey fell victim to that statistic”, added Nicole Columbo, chair, 2019 Gainesville Walk to End Alzheimer’s. “My involvement of the walk is to carry on her legacy. The Gainesville community always comes together on Walk day to celebrate our loved ones fighting this disease”, added Columbo.
In addition to the three mile walk, participants will enjoy a DJ along with many activities for children including face painting and balloon art.
