Tuesday, October 22nd, 2019
Respected attorney Judy Farrington Aust announced her campaign for the Georgia Court of Appeals – bringing unrivaled experience and common sense to the race. Aust has more than 30 years of experience in trial practice, was a founder of the esteemed law practice Goodman McGuffey and currently focuses on the mediation of civil legal disputes through the firm she established in 2018, Aust ADR.
“Having spent 30 years in the courtroom advocating for clients from practically every background, I am running to bring this wide range of experience to the bench. My common-sense approach is built on problem-solving and thoughtful consideration of complex issues. I’ve stood beside folks in every corner of this state whose jobs, savings, businesses or reputations were on the line in civil cases and I understand how critical it is for our judges to get it right. When electing a Court of Appeals Judge, experience counts, and I look forward to earning the trust of Georgians,” Aust said.
No other candidate in the race has Judy Aust’s depth of experience. During her extensive legal career, Judy successfully litigated a broad spectrum of civil cases and represented a vast number of small businesses, individuals, public entities, corporations and nonprofit organizations. In her current occupation as a mediator, Judy regularly undertakes an objective role in resolving disputes. As a result, she understands the imperative of impartiality toward all sides.
Judy’s campaign is co-chaired by former Republican State Representative Edward H. Lindsey of Dentons and W. Ray Persons of King & Spalding, who is regarded as one of the best trial lawyers in the country. Mr. Persons stated, “I am supporting Judy Aust for the Georgia Court of Appeals because she is exceptionally well-qualified by virtue of her character, intelligence and steadfast devotion to professional excellence.” Mr. Lindsey is a former partner and co-founder of the law firm originally named Goodman McGuffey Aust & Lindsey, LLP. “I have known Judy for 35 years as a lawyer, law partner, and friend. She is woman of enormous intellect, integrity, and compassion. Georgians will be well served by having her on the Georgia Court of Appeals,” he stated.
Having lived in Georgia almost her entire life, Judy has deep roots spread across the state. In addition to her distinguished legal career, she is active in her local community. As the daughter of a Baptist minister, Judy is grateful for the opportunity to serve in her local church. She is a singer, an artist, an avid cook and in her spare time, enjoys gardening with friends. She has an adult son, Owen, and an adopted dog, Sophie, courtesy of the Atlanta Humane Society.
