State Insurance Commissioner King: Thank You Law Enforcement Officials

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King, a 35-year veteran of law enforcement, expressed his gratitude to law enforcement officials here in Georgia and throughout the United States in honor of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.
“Today is a very special day in the law enforcement community. The men and women in blue deserve our utmost respect,” said Commissioner King. “I cannot express how thankful I am to my former colleagues for the jobs they do each and every day. They provide protection for communities across our state and a sense of comfort to our citizens. Today is a great day to show how thankful we all are for that protection.”
Before becoming Georgia’s Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner, Commissioner King served the Doraville Police Department in many capacities, including as a Detective, Deputy Chief over enforcement operations, and as Chief of the Department. Prior to that, Commissioner King was an Atlanta police officer beginning in 1985. While at the Atlanta Police Department, he worked various assignments including Red Dog, Organized Crime/Intelligence. Commissioner King’s career also includes assignments to both FBI and DEA as a Task Force Agent. In 1987, while at the Atlanta Police Department, King received the Chief’s Blue Star for being shot in the line of duty.
Commissioner King received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and Public Administration from Brenau University and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. He is a graduate of class #229 in the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA, and a graduate of the Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange program to Israel (GILEE).
