Best of Gwinnett winners and nominees are chosen by a combination of readers’ votes and editors’ input. The process begins with a nomination on the Best of Gwinnett website. After tens of thousands of votes have been received and tallied, the voting culminates with the publishing of the annual Best of Gwinnett issue. “This win is an AWESOME way to kick-off the 40th anniversary of Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful,” said Schelly Marlatt, Executive Director for Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful. “It’s particularly meaningful knowing that we were not only nominated by the public but also that we received votes from many of the citizens we serve that led to this win. It’s so rewarding to know that what we’re doing is being recognized – not just by Best of Gwinnett, but by our neighbors in this community that we love so much. Recognitions like this serve to grow our brand among those who may not be familiar with Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful and our role of educating and motivating Gwinnett County citizens to act on behalf of our environment – whether adopting a road to keep clean or participating in a recycling event. It’s more than a tagline for us, we really do take pride in our ability to connect people and resources for a more sustainable Gwinnett.”
To determine the Best of Gwinnett, reader opinions are vetted through several ranking sites, Better Business Bureau complaint reports, and voting pattern analysis reports before Guide to Gwinnett approves Best of Gwinnett and Among the Best winners. Winners are named in more than 20 broad business and community sectors. Within each category, there are multiple organizations named as “Best”, “Among the Best”, or “Ones To Watch” depending on the size of the market sector. Often, votes are distributed across several firms creating a virtual tie among many. With a county covering 437 square miles and a population around 900,000, it’s no wonder there are so many standout businesses and organizations.
In addition to its most recent 2019 win, Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful was also named Best of Gwinnett in 2018.
