U.S. Senator David Perdue (R-GA) today visited Northeast Georgia Health System’s (NGHS) COVID unit at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville, and participated in a roundtable discussion with healthcare executives. NGHS serves more than 18 Northeast Georgia counties and is one of the largest employers in the region with more than 9,000 employees.
“Our healthcare workers are on the frontlines of this crisis and are essential in our fight against COVID-19,” said Senator David Perdue. “Early on, NGHS created a Coronavirus Task Force with leaders from across the system to begin preparing for COVID-19. Throughout this crisis, they have reacted quickly and adjusted their operations to ensure their patients receive the care they need. It was an honor to visit Northeast Georgia Health System today and hear directly about their response efforts. I am extremely proud of NGHS’ work to safeguard the health of their local community.”
“We appreciate the support we’ve received from Senator Perdue and all of our other federal, state and local elected officials during the pandemic, said Carol Burrell, NGHS President & CEO. “Their willingness to visit the frontlines to learn more about what our healthcare workers and patients are experiencing helps reinforce the urgency of our requests and humanize what we’re all dealing with.”
