A local hospital’s focus on continuous improvement during the past two decades has paid off for patients, and a national group is recognizing that commitment to improving outcomes and safety. Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Gainesville recently received Bronze Milestone Recognition marking 20 years of accredited Vascular Testing from The Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC).

“Vascular testing is vital for early detection of life-threatening heart disorders, strokes and other diseases – and IAC accreditation is considered the gold standard for vascular testing,” said Vik Reddy, MD, Chief Clinical Officer of NGHS. “So, this Bronze Milestone Recognition speaks volumes about the great work our team does for our patients and the communities we serve.”

Every three-year cycle, accredited facilities undergo an intensive application and review process to re-earn accreditation, with an assessment conducted by a panel of medical experts. IAC accreditation assesses the many factors that contribute to an accurate diagnosis based on vascular testing. The training and experience of the technologist performing the procedure, the type of equipment used and the quality assessment metrics each facility is required to measure all contribute to a positive patient outcome.
