Georgia DOT Awards $201.8 Million in Contracts for July

The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) awarded a total of 44 projects valued at approximately $201.8 million at the monthly State Transportation Board meeting held in July.

The largest single investment construction project, valued at approximately $49.5 million, proposes to widen and reconstruct 8.443 miles of US 441/State Route (SR) 89 beginning at Orange Street and extending north of SR 122 in Clinch County. This contract and eight other construction projects total approximately $102.9 million and represent 51 percent of the total funds awarded.

The largest resurfacing contract, valued at approximately $8.2 million, will mill, inlay and plant mix resurface 5.080 miles on US 78/SR 410 beginning at I-285/SR 407 and extend to SR 10 in DeKalb County. This contract and 20 other resurfacing projects total approximately $77.3 million and represent 38 percent of the total funds awarded.

The largest safety contract awarded, valued at approximately $2.4 million, will install sharp curve warning signs and sharp curve high friction surface treatments at various locations in Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton and Rockdale counties. Other safety improvements included in the awards consist of pavement marking upgrades, pedestrian crossing upgrades, installation of warning signs, installation of motorcycle guardrails, signage and pavement marking upgrades, concrete repair, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) CCTV expansion at various locations throughout the state. This contract and 10 other safety projects total approximately $15.3 million and represent 8 percent of the total funds awarded.
 
There are three bridge rehabilitation contracts totaling approximately $6.3 million which represent three percent of the total funds awarded. The largest project valued at approximately $3.1 million includes bridge rehabilitation projects across various locations in Elbert, Franklin, Jackson and Walton counties. 
 
Award Announcement list for July (includes rejected and or deferred projects). Bids for Design-Bid-Build projects were received on July 18, and contracts were awarded to the lowest qualified bidders on August 1, 2025.
 
This month includes a Supplemental Award Announcement (which includes a previously deferred project that has now been awarded).
 
The July awards bring the total construction contracts for Fiscal Year 2026, which began on July 1 to more than $201 million. This total includes TIA, Design-Bid-Build, and locally administered projects. Fiscal Year 2026 will conclude June 30, 2026.
